One of the most important realizations of my life has been how resilient hope is in the face of outrageous challenges. Hope is, I believe, one of the most powerful forces we encounter–and one that always seems to find me.
So who are you anyway?
Nothing like softball questions!
I am a snarky, sarcastic theologian, poet, Type A organizer. I am also a mom, wife, pastor, and currently a candidate for ordination in the United Methodist Church.
I graduated from Methodist Theological School in Ohio in 2019 with my Master of Divinity, specializing in Biblical Languages and Texts (Greek). My thesis, Pursuing Orthoeros: Toward a Christian Sexual Ethics of Flourishing, challenges the Biblical, theological, and ethical underpinnings of a sex-negative sexual ethics and synthesizes contributions in the field to propose a sexual ethics that is faithful to God and to humanity.
I am also a published writer with contributor credit in Strong For a Moment Like This (currently unavailable) and We Pray With Her: Encouragement for All Women Who Lead as well as the upcoming Speaking Truth: Women Raising Their Voices in Prayer (available February 2020).
Welcome to the insurgency
Insurgent Hope is a continual work in progress. I invite one and all to journey with me through questions of parenting, family, and other relationships; faith, religion, and belief in a broken world; and the practical realities of home life and organization. I will also share reflections from my vocational work, including sermon texts and other references that I find helpful. All opinions are my own and not intended to represent an official position from the United Methodist Church or any conference, district, or local congregation therein – even when I wish they were.
I want to talk to you!
